In Memory of Trees

As time goes by, we lose touch with ones we’ve loved.

It’s as if they don’t exist to us or us to them.

Life moves on…

Remember when???

You may see them again in 10… 20… years.

As time passes, some do as well.

Is it any different when you find out?

But there is a hole there…

A hole filled with memories.

The ones you were living on,

because you hadn’t seen them in years.

Close your eyes and picture,

An old dying tree fighting the rain.

Remember a time when the leaves kept us cool in the summer.

Watching the bark slide off the branches as if jumping ship.

Reminding you of children leaping with joy from the lower limbs.

Even now, squirrels and birds populate the tree.

The exposed limbs turning white seem no bother to them.

In this tree there is familiarity, comfort, safety, strength and history.

The essence of the tree has gone,

Yet the legacy continues to support life.

Clinging to the whispers of the essence it once held.

Just know, you will leave behind a Masterpiece,

that will last long after your essence has moved on.

It will provide a base from which new life can spring.

And for that,

I Find You Kind
